One of the most known ancient method of Trataka is keeping our attention on a flame lit and waiting till the flame appears as a singular flow and our mind is more steady. This works even better if we can connect to the soft core of the flame and if we can keep our awareness and attention soft, steady and loving.
The same process we can extend to a Divine Master whom we love. Let us say for example we really adore and love The Mother, Sri Aurobindo or Ramalinga Adigalar (Vallalar). This process can be done physically if we are sitting in their samadhi. We can also do it with our inner gaze and vision and actually connecting to an inner image or presence of them. We can place our attention humble and gentle with no agenda upon Them. We just want to be intimately in Their presence. We can place our glance on a part of Their body like feet, heart or Their hair. We can keep our attention on them till our inner gaze is filled with Their presence or sight. Then slowly we can move to the practice of ‘knowledge by identity’. We can place our glance or even our breath within Their presence or image or subtle body. We will now feel Their presence, see Their subtle body and experience Their presence in a direct and tangible way – as much as we love Them and aspire to connect with them and as much as They Grace Their subtle body, consciousness and presence to us. We just remain like this for as long as we want or forever we can stay united with Them and live our life.
We can slowly now move into the practice of Consecration or Loving Conscious Offering. Keeping our inner gaze and inner felt sense humbly linked to the Divine Master or within Them we can progressively go within our mind and offer its substance and thoughts to Their influence. We can go within our emotions, sensations, feelings and energy and offer it to Them so that our life energy bears Their vibrations. We can go within our body and its subtle substance and keep offering each cell, its core, its vibrations and all that is flowing within our body to the Divine Master’s vibration, consciousness or subtle substance.
“Mantra is not the name of God, nor is it important to know its meaning. Mantra simply has to be repeated for the vibrations to be effective. Mantra is dhvani or sound vibrations, which creates similar sound frequencies in different parts of the body and mind.”
Sri Vijnana Bhairava Tantra – The Ascent Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati
INSIGHTS
First take for practice a simple mantra like OM, AUM or MAA
Take your awareness deep within your body and feel its substance
Feel your breath flowing through the substance of your body
Now chant your small mantra and feel its vibration
Keep it chanting for some time and stay with the vibrations and feel it stirring the substance or matter of your body
Continue the practice from time to time for a few seconds with eyes open, alongside your regular works
“I know that at a certain moment I was making the distinction between the two states, between the person – the individual, personal being – turning towards the Lord, imploring Him to reveal His Will, and then this experience of becoming – by extending oneself, by opening, by enlarging, by merging into the creation – of BECOMING the Will of the Lord, the Supreme’s Will. No longer any need to implore Him, to ‘know’ His Will and receive it like something foreign to you – you become that Will.
The experience was there at that moment, and it was eloquent enough.
And I was giving him the example of BEING the thing you manipulate and so – since you ARE the thing – having not only the joy of perfect knowledge of manipulation, but the joy of collaboration as well (not collaboration: rather a participation from the thing being utilized). And this from the smallest thing (objects you put in order, for example) right up to the universal transformation that comes with the new Creation – and it’s all the same movement of abolishing limits, the movement of expansion, of a generosity that abolishes limits. It begins with self-giving, it ends in identification.”

The Mother, Mother’s Agenda
OUR INSIGHTS
For those who love deeper body work it seems to be extraordinarily important to practice the Universal or Divine process of Expansion and Condensation.
This is easier to do in the mind level now. In fact much of the progress of technology has been abolishing limits and expanding our mind.
We need to practice this at vital life energy, expansion of prana and expansion & condensation at the subtle substance of our body levels.
Let us each discover this inner process. Pay attention to The Mother’s description of expansion as generosity that abolishes limits.
Gawri, an eleven-year-old girl, had a great interest in exploring the supernatural. Her mother, Latha was herself a deeper body work practitioner and trainer. As Gawri was keen on learning, Latha decided to guide her with some of the practices.
During one of the sessions, Gawri asked her Mother, “Maa, I have a pain in my chest. Could you help me relieve it?”
“Yes, my dear. Certainly. Let’s do it together,” said Latha lovingly. “Place your hands on the area where you feel the pain, focus on the sensation and stay with it for sometime, if anything emerges let me know”.
Gawri closed her eyes and placed her hands on her chest. After some time she spoke gently.
“Maa, I see a pink and white lotus. It feels surreal, sun rays are falling on its thick, soft petals”
“Beautiful dear, stay with it.”
“Now my attention has shifted to my stomach where I see a waterfall with a lot of force and freshness. I take a dip in the water and then I see a black smoke come out of my body, I feel lighter… refreshed. ”
“Wonderful Gawri, what do you see now?” asks Latha, noticing a change in Gawri’s expression.
“I see The Mother. I bow down to her, letting all my guards down. I ask her to guide me”.
Latha looks into Gawri’s eyes tenderly and assures, “Do not worry my child, you will have no more pain”.
Indeed! Checking once again with the sensation in her chest and suddenly Gawri screams into the air “ Yes! The pain has vanished! I am free!” (springs off her seat and twirls her way out of the door!)
This course shares the latest findings on deeper body work in the form of inner practices. We practice together as a group and individual insights are also provided for each one to discover and carve their own journey within this.
With joy, we see that over the last five years, there are many who are able to now slip in into the body’s deeper sadhana of being aware of its substance (the matter of the body) and begin to consecrate it to the consciousness above. As we continue to do this sadhana, our body’s old patterns and limitations can be offered and in its place a newer light, a newer joy and a newer program can be received, held and allowed to creatively manifest.
Our body has almost an infinite capacity to hold infinite beatitudes of the Divine Consciousness in its purest nature. But for that our body has to be moulded, chiselled, purified and made ready to receive and hold these qualities. This is an aspect of love of the body for its Creator or Creatrix.
